[ Monday 24-12-07 ]

Well, last night was our final gig of a very eventful year.

It was great to see our good friends the Devilriders play again - with yet ANOTHER different bassist - and especially wonderful to see 'Uncle and Auntie' Sprex, our adopted relatives from Belgium, who came down just for this one show! Cheers Mark and Diane, we love you guys! Also, a big thank you to Stuart for being a good friend and also having the best attendance record of any LCN fan!

So, what a year it has been in Chat Noir land. Our fondest memories have definitely been of Belgium and Germany, where we met so many lovely people and played so many good gigs.

[ Monday 18-11-07 ]

Well, we're back from Europe - we had a great time! We're very tired, but also very happy right now - there are lots of things we need to catch up on, but we will write a full account of the three weeks we spent over there some time very soon!

[ Tuesday 30-10-07 ]

We're very excited today, because tomorrow morning we are headed for Dover again, making ojur way back to the continent for our second European tour of the year!

We can't wait to gig again - we've had a quiet month of regrouping after what happened in Italy, and now we're finally ready to rock once more!

[ Monday 29-10-07 ]

We decided to put all the tracks from both of our albums online for you to hear, in fairly high quality MP3 format. Please download them from our Myspace page, listen, spread the word and enjoy!

All we ask in return is that if you like the songs, please show your support for the band by buying a hard copy of Deadwood - with great artwork and full-quality audio tracks!

[ Wednesday 03-10-07 ]

We just got back from Italy - we are very, very tired right now. Our trip was 2 weeks, we drove a total of about 4000 miles, did 4 shows in Italy and drove through 6 different countries en route - but the numbers don't speak the full story.

This is just a quick message to touch base and say something important.

We saw the best and worst of Italy - met some wonderful people, ate good food, saw some great things. But it was all eclipsed by one moment of stupidity on our part - we parked on a road going into Rome beforeo ur second gig and went for a look at the beach, and when we returned 5 minutes later someone had smashed our car window and stolen most of our equipment - as well as my father's cameras. About a total of 15000GBP worth of equipment was stolen. It was probably the worst day of our life, but somehow we still played 3 more shows and have come back stronger and wiser.

Most of the stuff was in boxes with our name and logo on, but I'm sure it'll all be taken out of that. However, if anyone in Italy, or anywhere else, sees my guitar for sale, please let me know. It's a red, left-handed Dipinto MachIV with a P90 pickup installed in the bridge position - it'll be the only one in the world, so if you see it it's mine.

[ Wednesday 19-09-07 ]

We leave at 7AM tomorrow for our ferry to France - we're very excited!! Then we will spend a few days driving and camping in France, before playing some cool shows in Italy! During this time, we don't know if or when we will have internet access, so apologies for any delay in replying. We look forward to messages and CD sales upon our return! ;) We will try to write a long tour blog too!

Hope everyone has a great couple of weeks, hope to meet a bunch of people in Italy soon!

[ Sunday 16-09-07 ]

We have just returned from our very fun mini tour of London and then Wales, but there's no time to rest - we're off again in a few days! We're catching the ferry to France on Thursday and then heading down for our mini tour of Italy! We're very excited!

We have had great fun the past few days, special thanks to Karma and Ed of Fruit Machine Blues and Kevin in Llandrindod for their help in getting the gigs and for generally being lovely people - we'll write more about those gigs in the next few days if we get time!

And now to business. In November we return to the continent, with gigs in Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg lined up. We'd love to fill the gaps in our schedule with some more dates, so if anyone can help us at all by suggesting venues, booking us a gig or any other useful info, please get in touch! You can see our current dates on our page. Many thanks, we really look forward to coming and playing for you all in exciting new places!

DEADWOOD IS HERE! We've released the album today and will be launching it at The Corn Exchange in Camborne tonight. We're very excited and proud! Please listen to it in the music section of the site and buy a copy in the shop section!

[ Monday 27-08-07 ]

We're back from the Aeon Festival now, it was a great weekend - we played at 8.30 on Sunday evening and the main tent was pretty much full up! It was really fun to play to a warm and receptive crowd. Apparently the festival sold out and 1600 people came - it was much bigger than we were expecting and very well run, cheers to Nikki and everyone else on the Aeon team! Photos of the gig are up in our photos section now, we should have some more and some videos to show you soon too.

Deadwood should be released in the next couple of days - if it gets back from the press in time!

[ Thursday 09-08-07 ]

Thanks to everyone who texted in last night - we won! They announced that we got a huge number of texts, far more than anyone else, so your efforts definitely contributed. Apparently the judges were unanimous on the night too.

We're quite shellshocked, really - we weren't expecting to win at all, as judges in these things often go with the 'safe' option. We usually avoid battles of the bands because we hate the negative thing of judging bands against each other in this way, especially when the bands on the night were all so different. Music is so subjective, how can you compare a really polished fusion band like Numb against our raw, stripped down thing?

Well, never mind - the main thing was it was a great night with a great atmosphere and everyone had a good time!

Thanks so much to Toz for all his hard work, and for our little hardcore group of supporters who turned up - particularly Stuart, and Matt and Steve with their awesome LE CHAT NOIR... I WAS THERE: WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU?' t-shirts. Classic!

The money will really help to fill the Deadwood-sized hole in my bank account!

Speaking of Deadwood, we are planning to officially launch it at our gig in Camborne later this month - it's shaping up to be a great night, with 8 bands playing across 2 600-capacity rooms. Our good friends Venus Bogardus will also be launching their 2nd album, so it should be a pretty special night all round!

Deadwood is still available to preorder - bear in mind that if you drop us an e-mail to band@lechatnoir.org.uk headed 'DEADWOOD PREORDER' we will reply to you personally as soon as we have the CDs back from the replicators, so you'll be among the first to own it!

Thanks again to all who voted, it means a lot to us.

Some photos from a show we did at the Bit On The Side in Paignton on 17-07-07 have been added to the gallery, thanks to Chloe Gray for those - check them out for some unmissable beast riding action! There are also lots of other photos to see. Cheers to Stuart Gardner in particular for all his photos, videos and the mix tapes he's been making us!

[ Thursday 02-08-07 ]

We are sending out the final master and artwork for Deadwood for pressing today, so it will be ready for sale very soon!

It's rather fitting, as today is the anniversary of "Wild Bill" Hickok's murder in 1876 at Nuttal & Mann's Saloon No. 10 in Deadwood - the story being part of the thematic inspiration for this album.

In other news, check out Electric Sheep for our top ten film picks. When Virginie from this offbeat film magazine recently asked us if we'd like to submit a list of ten films we love, we jumped at the chance. Films are a huge influence on us and we love to unwind with a good DVD or a trip to the cinema! It's fun to answer some questions that aren't about music too!

[ Saturday 21-07-07 ]

A new video from Exeter on the 19th is now in the video section.

Last night we fell asleep in the fast lane...

...the good news is, we weren't moving at the time!

We just came back from being stranded on the M5 for 20 hours due to the 'unprecedented' flooding that's been happening in the Midlands. this, combined with it being the first day of school holidays, was a deadly mixture.

We set out at 1 in the afternoon yesterday for Llandrindod Wells, heading up on the M5. We hit heavy traffic as we got into Gloucester, it took us an hour to get 12 miles - then when we reached the turnoff the police had closed it! We heard on the radio that a few of the rivers broke their banks and flooded towns, roads, and villages in the surrounding area. The only way for us to get to Llandrindod was to take the M50 through Hereford... but another 12 miles and several hours down the road, we discovered that was closed down in both directions... so there was no way of us getting through to mid-Wales.

Frustration quickly set in, and as the hours ticked by we knew there was no chance of us playing the gig - and eventually we realised we weren't even going to be able to get across into Wales at all, as all the roads leading that way were closed. Really annoying, as we later heard from Kevin that it was a great gig with lots of people there! We were really looking forward to playing Llandrindod again, it was a really fun gig last time, but hopefully we'll be up again soon!

We ended up taking the next exit and headed onto to the southbound M5... which was horrible because everyone else had the same idea! Literally ten seconds after we took the sliproad onto the carriageway, the radio announced the road was closed as few junctions down from where we were due to all three lanes being underwater. Traffic was flowing sporadically, we were doing about a mile every hour or so.

Eventually everything ground to a halt - engines and headlights turned off, leaving the motorway in an eerie silence and darkness. We had no choice but to sleep in the car...on the motorway. The time was now about 2 in the morning, and we bedded down for a fitful few hours sleep - traffic began flowing again at around 4.30, and as we passed the area which had been flooded we saw lots of cars that were abandoned, up to their wheel arches in water, as well as a coupel which were out of the water but had been incapacitated by curious a seaweed-type substance wrapped around their wheels!

We've literally just got home - it's 9 in the morning. we were in the car for 21 hours total! Obviously the combination of extreme fatigue and knowing the roads North are still appalling means we've taken the decision to not even try to get to Leicester for tonight, sorry to anyone up there who was planning on coming to see us, we were really looking forward to that too!

Now it's time to eat, have some coffee and recharge... Plymouth tomorrow is still going ahead, it's an early start with doors opening at 5.30 but we're on later. Come along, it'll be a great gig, also featuring more garage rock action in the form of The Monroes and Supenik!

We hope wherever you are, you're safe and warm - however bad our trip was, we are just thanking our lucky stars that our car and equipment didn't end up underwater. There were reports of power cuts and houses being flooded too, I really feel for those poor souls.

Deadwood is nearly finished! Check out the photo gallery to see some wonderful promo shots we've just had done, along with lots more live photos from some recent gigs!

[ Friday 01-06-07 ]

Well, we've been off all over the place recently, taking in Bradford, Andover, good old Exeter, Liverpool and Widnes among others... seeing some great friends of ours and making lots of new ones along the way too!

Will write a proper tour diary and get some photos up ASAP (I've uploaded some from Liverpool already), but for now we need to get coffee and rest for a moment - we just got back from our foray up North this afternoon and it's off out again in an hour or two to Bodmin!

If you live near Bodmin, come along tonight - it'll be a great gig, Supenik and Leon Fazy both rock!

The sun is shining here in Devon, hope it's nice wherever you are too!

[ PREORDER DEADWOOD ]

In the next month or so we will release our second album, Deadwood, through Garage Sale Records.

It will feature 13 brand new tracks, including some that you will have heard in demo form on our Myspace: Wedding Dress, Down By The River, Green Eyed Josephine, The Bone Collector and The Scarlet Mistress.

The overall feeling of the album is darker and more 'mature' than Tales From Silver City, featuring a mix of the passionate garage rock that was a staple of our first album with more brooding, complex arrangements. Overall, if you enjoyed TFSS we think you'll love the new stuff!

We are going to have the album professionally pressed, with awesome artwork by Tim Zastera. Because it is going to cost us quite a lot up front to do this, we'd really appreciate it if everyone who is interested in buying the album registers their intention to buy a copy by dropping us an e-mail headed 'Deadwood Preorder' to deadwood@lechatnoir.org.uk with your name - as soon as the album is available, we will send a mailout to everyone who has registered and you'll be the first to own a copy!

The first 100 people to register will also get an exclusive set of 3 new pin badges with the album, which will not be available any other time!

Deadwood will ship free to any part of the world - it will cost 8.00GBP in the UK, 10.00EUR for Europe and 15.00USD for America. Please enquire for prices in other currencies.

This all works out to be approximately the same. We wanted to make the amounts round to allow as many people as possible a chance to own the album - we will be accepting well-disguised cash in dollars, pounds or euros and UK cheques in the post from buyers who do not have credit cards or Paypal!

Thanks to everyone for your support - it's the people who listen to our music who drive us to keep making it!

[ TOUR DIARY: 13 to 14-04-07, Llanidloes, Gravesend ]

Hello all! Sorry it's been so long since we did a proper blog. It's been a busy time for us, we've been all over the place the last couple of weeks.

On Friday 13th (unlucky for some!) we set off for Mid Wales, having been offered a gig by the wonderful Kryptics in their local town of Llanidloes. It was a very pleasant drive, with some stunning views of the rolling valleys for which the Welsh countryside is famous. We arrived at a decent time and found our way to the venue - Llanidloes FC's club house!

We really didn't know what to expect from the venue, either in terms of sound or the reception we were likely to get, but we needn't have worried - everyone was really friendly to us and in the end we had a great gig!

LikeChild (http://www.myspace.com/likechildmusic) opened, and we really enjoyed their set - a real mixture of styles blended together for a unique indie-blues-jangle feel. Sadly, first one and then the other PA speaker died, whilst the microphone was giving singer Clovis electric shocks! they ended the set with the wedge monitor pointed at the crowd to try and get the vocals out to us.

This put a dampener on their set sadly, with The Kryptics (http://www.myspace.com/dirtydumbkryptics) rushing off to find repleacements before their set. They were awesome as always, we have thoroughly enjoyed them both times we've seen them - lots of energy, some good-natured anti-English sentiment and songs about office stationary and household appliances... great stuff!

We were up last, and the venue seemed to really come alive after our opening songs - a lot of people started jumping about, dancing, generally having a good time. We really enjoyed it, it's always great when people get into it and we certainly fed off the energy, playing a raucous, slightly more rough-around-the-edges set than usual. I played half the set with 5 strings, but it didn't seem to matter - I finally gave in and switched to my backup for the encore, which promptly went well out of tune, and I ended up chucking it across the room.... but it was all fun!

Afterwards, we headed back to Harry from The Kryptics' house for a mini-aftershow party which involved drinking lots of Jack Daniels, ABBA singalongs and finally us crashing in preparation for the drive across the country the following day. we also signed Dan's stomach, which apparenlty left his bedsheets all black the following day:

We woke up feeling tired but happy - thanks a lot again to Harry for putting us up and feeding us coffee and toast! Having collected our equipment from the football club, we said our goodbyes and took a photo of a lion's black and white balls before heading off across the country to a place with a pub of the same name... but in about every other way, the complete opposite of this idyllic rural Welsh town.

4 and a half hours later we rolled up in the aptly-named Gravesend - turning into the road the venue was on we ended up at a dead end, surrounded by fencing, looking out over an industrial wasteland on the banks of the Thames. This area of the South East got its name during the time of the great plague - many plague victims from London were brought to Gravesend and buried. Today, it retains a rather apocalyptic, damned feel... when we finally found the venue after a u-turn, it looked like a bomb had hit the area and the only surviving building was the Red Lion.

The inside of the venue was a bit nicer than the surrounding landscape; an old, Victorian-style building with a high ceiling. We had a drink and a game of pool, then soundman Vic arrived and we loaded in. The venue itself is a good-sized room with a raised stage and really decent sound system, and we began to feel a lot more positive about the whole experience - especially talking to Vic, who was really nice and easy to get on with.

First up were local boys The Wayward Runners (http://www.myspace.com/thewaywardrunners), who were playing their second ever gig. They had an interesting setup, being the first band we'd played with to use a drum machine instead of a live drummer. I could see what they were trying to do, but I kept feeling that a live drummer would give them a lot more energy and punch - especially as a couple of times they slipped out of sync with the drum machine and found it difficult to pull it back together, always a hazard of relying on pre-recorded backing tracks. At 15-16, they're still very young and it's great to see bands of that age getting out there and gigging - best of luck to them.

Next up were Shadow Aspect (http://www.myspace.com/shadowaspect1) - another kettle of fish enritely. They played a set of highly technical melodic heavy metal, topped off with some guttural howling for good measure. Though this really isn't my thing, I always enjoy the experience of seeing metal bands as they tend to put on a good show and are great to watch in terms of musicianship - these guys didn't disappoint, and seemed to really enjoy playing despite a crowd consisting of only us and The Wayward Runners.

Finally, it was our turn to play - as usual, we gave it our all and the other bands seemed to quite enjoy it - it had been a strange, eclectic night of music which could have worked if only there had been a crowd. Even Vic was surprised and almost apologetic - he was baffled as to why there was no turnout at all, especially considering it was a saturday night.

Another 4 and a half hours later, our triangular mini-tour was over and we bedded down for a good night's sleep - the drive really took it out of me, even though I'm getting used to getting home in the early hours of the morning from our long-distance gigging exploits!

Right, I've got to go now - I'll write more about the other gigs we've done recently soon!

[ Tuesday 13-03-07 ]

There are some new photos in the pictures section from our gig last night at The Hub in Exeter.

[ TOUR DIARY: 06 to 09-03-07, Newport, Liverpool, Selby ]

Well, it's been a varied and fun (but very tiring!) few days for us, we've just got back and there's lots to tell! A lot of people have sent us nice messages, we promise we'll get round to replying but please bear with us!

Our first gig was on Tuesday at TJ's in Newport - which we were later told was apparently the place Kurt Cobain proposed to Courtney Love, and has palyed host to many great bands over the years including Dead Kennedys and the Misfits, which Eileen was over the moon about as they're two of her favourite bands.

We played with a couple of really great Welsh acts, The Kryptics and These Things Take Time - who lived up to their name by turning up very, very late with the drum kit, but it all came good in the end! The gig was pretty quiet but all three bands still played with passion and energy and we had a great time. Thanks to Connor for the last-minute organisation!

We stayed upstairs in TJ's as the manager very kindly offered us an apartment for the night, but was had very little sleep - there wasn't even a working shower, so after a fitful few hours of broken slumber we got up, had some Pro Plus and headed off towards the North West as the sun began to rise on the horizon.

A few hours later we arrived in the sunny suburban town of Newton-Le-Willows, where we were very well treated by some family friends - the first thing we did was both have a nice soak in the bath, as we were feeling pretty disgusting!

We then headed off into Liverpool to find the famous Cavern Club, eventually getting to it on time after some wrong turns and curses aimed at the one-way gridded road layout.

Neither of us had been to Liverpool before, and we were definitely impressed by the vibe and architecture of the place - it had a great feeling to it, and we were really looking forward to playing at the venue made famous as the home of the Beatles in their early years. The worst part was probably loading in, which involved lugging our equipment across a main road then down the several floors of spiral stairs into the club. It's a cool place inside though, we were especially amused by a group of drunk people in the bar area who belted out off-key Beatles renditions with gusto from the start of the evening to the finish!

The gig itself was probably one of our favourites so far - it was great to meet another of our friends from Myspace, the wonderful Mrs Fuzzy, and her friend Angharad! Also Eileen's friend Sean came over from Coventry, which was cool as she hadn't seen him in ages.

We played second on a varied bill - Still Bust were up first, a spiky, punky genre-hopping 5-piece from Gloucester who sadly didn't have much of a crowd to play to but put on a great show nonetheless. We had a really good chat to these guys afterwards, they were a really sound bunch and we're looknig forward to meeting up with them again when we hit Cheltenham.

We came onstage around ten past nine and were very surprised and happy when the area in front of the stage quickly filled out with people - again, thanks to the Still Bust guys who stuck around and stood forward, it really helped to bring the rest of the crowd in. We played well, had a lot of fun and the response was great - we were beginning to really enjoy the warm, welcoming nature of the people in this part of the world!

After we left the stage, Paper Tigers and Black Lines played - I have to say that we didn't really chat to these guys and they weren't really our kind of thing musically, both were competent but seemed a bit flat after the energy and aggression of the first two bands, leading to a lot of people sitting down or wandering to the bar area.

Finally, The Daimlers took to the stage - another great bunch of lads with an indie sound of their own, we really enjoyed their music and we hope to head up to York sometime and encounter them again. We were quite tempted to hit the town with Still Bust after the gig, but following our rough Newport night we decided to head off and try to recouperate with a good night's sleep.

On our 'day off', we headed over to Salford for a pilgrimmage that has been a dream of both of ours for years - to visit the Salford Lads Club, the setting for an iconic photograph of The Smiths. When we eventually found it, things couldn't have turned out much better - one of the volunteers who helps to run the club was passing by, and invited us in for a tour! They have a room dedicated to Smiths memorabilia and photos of fans sent in from all over the world, which we intend to send our snaps into sometime!

Eileen was really happy, especially as we were taken up to the band room where Mike Joyce's drums are still set up.

It felt really great to know the club is still a fully functioning building, kept alive by the passion and dedication of local volunteers.

Feeling very happy at our serendipitous visit to Salford, we headed to the Lowry gallery in Manchester and had a good time wandering the exhibitions, before heading back for a good night's sleep in preparation for our next gig.

After a very scenic (and shorter than expected) trip along the M62, we found ourselves in the town of Selby at about 4 o'clock on Friday. We weren't meant to be around until about half 6, so we contented ourselves with watching a happy old wino on a bench and looking at the fairly impressive abbey which was nearby the venue.

The evening was really good, a fun time was had by all - The Labels seemed to enjoy their set got the sizeable crowd moving, and then we took to the stage and had a great time too. Thanks a lot to Benjamin for all his hard work in organising the event, and also for getting us a room for the night too!

We got up this morning at about 7, eager to get on the road and get home after our travels. Two full English breakfasts and 5 hours of fairly easy-going motorway travel later, we were back in the rolling hills of Devon - tired, ill and aching but feeling very happy at all the fun we'd had along the way! We'll definitely be heading up North again, we thoroughly enjoyed the places we saw and especially the people we met.

[ Monday 05-03-07 ]

We had to cancel our Newport show due to illness and exhaustion on Sunday, but the promoter has kindly offered us an alternative date - tomorrow night, at TJ's.

Hopefully we'll see some people there, then in Liverpool on Wednesday and Selby on Friday!

[ TOUR DIARY: 02-03-07 @ UTB, Sheffield ]

Well, yesterday was a bit of an odd one. We set out at 10 in the morning feeling quite under the weather, and a mere (!) 7 hours later we were at the venue - after a few wrong turns and having to drive in bus and tram lanes in the city to find the venue! We're very grateful to the guy at the music shop who gave me directions!

First impressions - the sound man was a really nice guy, very helpful, and the venue was also good - low arched ceilings, nice dark red, black and white decor, felt a bit like a cross between faded Parisian glamour and a nuclear bunker! We were quite early, so we sat and relaxed and took lots of pro plus to try to perk ourselves up a bit!

The other bands were very different from us, but we really enjoyed them both - particularly enjoyed a deep and meaningful chat with Onion's drummer about life, the music industry and suchlike!

Kid ID were on first. This 6-piece were really interesting, blending Latin rhythms with a hint of ska, alt country and folk. They were very tight and got the crowd moving - it was looking like a good night, a big crowd for the first band on, with everyone seeming to enjoy themselves.

Next up we played, and to be honest in has to go down as one of our less enjoyable gigs - literally 10 seconds into our opener a string suddenly wsent out of tune on my Tokai, then promptly snapped a few bars into the second song. I swapped to my newly-modded Telecaster, which performed admirably - however, I kept having technical problems with my pedals, which kept cutting in and out with loud humming. I think it's a dodgy input on my octave pedal, will have to check it out. The response from the crowd was generally cold - they'd stopped watching the stage area after the opening band and had mostly headed off to start some heavy drinking. The slightly odd feeling of the evening was compounded by a guy who was dancing all crazy to every song, doing forward rolls and all kinds of stuff. By the end of the set we were just happy it was over - I chucked my guitar on the floor in frustration and we were both feeling really ill, we've been battling colds for the last few days and they finally caught up with us.

The final band were Onion from Derby, a really nice bunch of lads whose music was really funky - nice to see a band who play this kind of music and aren't just trying to be the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Some very good grooves, with some impressive finger picking guitar work - they did their best to get the audience moving, but it seemed most people had sadly continued to focus on drinking and talking rather than paying attention.

We had a good chat afterwards to Ben and Emily who had come over to see us in anticipation of the Selby gig next week, which I promise will be a much better show! It was great to meet you guys, you're awesome!

We then packed the car in the rain and decided to drive back rather than stay over - got home at 7 o'clock this morning and passed out until half 2 in the afternoon! Today we're very ill, exhausted and worn out so we've sadly cancelled the Newport gig the was scheduled for tomorrow - apologies.

That's it for this road trip - we'll write more after the Liverpool and Selby shows next week!

P.S. I think Ben is surprisingly the first person who has wheeled out the 'come on Eileen' line...

[ Thursday 01-03-07 ]

Hi all! It's been a great few days! Nico and Paula came over from France to stay with us and came to see us at The Hub in Exeter... they're such a lovely couple, we had a wonderful time with them and the only regret is that they couldn't stay longer! We miss them now!!

It was a special evening for all of us - it was their first concert together, which is lovely as they met through our music here on Myspace! Paula videoed the gig, below is a link to Carpe Diem and Is Ignorance A Sin on Youtube (apologies for the sound quality):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmPXiHQUWxo

Enjoy! We've got a very busy schedule of gigs coming up now, so hope to catch more of you in various parts of the UK in March!

[ Monday 19-02-07 ]

Well, after a week where our computer died and our web host accidentally cancelled our hosting account, everything is finally back to normal! New photos from the Hole In The Wall gig are up, along with updated gig listings - March is looking like a busy month!

[ Tuesday 30-01-07 ]

We're proud to announce that we are involed with Indieperium, a brand new german booking agency who will be helping to organise a few visits to Germany over the next year. We're really looking forward to palying on the continent, especially Germany, we've had a really great response from people over there!

[ Sunday 21-01-07 ]

We played Club Molotov in Bude the other day to about 7 people... but we still had a good time, thanks so much to those who were there! My new guitar was sounding great and survived its baptism of fire intact, apart from the inevitable snapping of a string in our encore (yes, an encore, those 7 people wanted more!). The website has been updated with some photos from the last Hub gig, and with a whole bunch of new upcoming gigs - which should grow more soon, as we have started to try to arrange dates for our Germany tour with Venus Bogardus! Check out the dates and the photos and have a great weekend!

[ Tuesday 16-01-07 ]

Another good gig yesterday, with SOB and the fabulous ShowStripSilence from Italy - check them out, they were awesome! Us and ShowStripSilence were suffering from colds, but we all just screamed through it! We have 10 new songs in various stages of completion now, so we're on track to have another album out in a month or so - it's been frustrating, because some of them are pretty much finished musically but I haven't been able to sing on them! Rest assured, as soon as I'm recovered you'll be hearing some new material on our Myspace!

Happy new year! Sorry it's been a while since an update, we've been very busy! There are some photos from The Hub and The Cavern on our photos section now, check them out. Also, in case you missed it, we recorded a quick Christmas song which will be on the new album, you can download a demo for free HERE! Enjoy!

We have two new tracks up on our Myspace page - Wedding Dress and Dead Man's Hand. The new stuff is shaping to be heavier and harder than Tales From Silver City, but with a similar overall aesthetic. Drop by, see what you think and leave us a comment!

Firstly, check out Leon Fazy! We met Noah and Sam at our first gig since recording at The Hub in Exeter, and they're top guys - and are doing a very similar thing to us, super-cool alt-rock-grunge-blues 2-piece madness. We went and saw them and Supenik last night and had a really great night, one of the best nights of live music I've witnessed in ages! One of the coolest things about the evening was they did a cover - of Fallen Angel by us!! It was so unexpected, we're still grinning thinking about it now! It was extra-cool because we haven't actually played that song yet ourselves live!

We've started work on some new recordings yesterday, so in the next day or two expect to hear some new material on our Myspace profile. Eileen opened her Christmas present early - it's an awesome little digital camera, so from now on expect our gig stories to be embellished with lots more photos! Have a great Sunday!

Well, the Bath gig went really well, apart from the usual techincal hitches - my lowest string and Eileen's bass pedal simultaneously fell apart during one song! There was a big crowd considering we were first on and people seemed to really enjoy our set.

Thanks a lot to Gareth the promoter, we had an excellent night and really hope to come up to Bath again soon! Also, Venus Bogardus have to be one of the nicest bands we've ever met, really good music too! the Mentalists were also cool - all in all, a great night!

We got back this morning at about 3, half-asleep but happy... Eileen was starting to hallucinate bridges and brown bears on the road about half an hour before we hit home, hehe.

The next week or so is going to be our time for writing some new material, so expect some new tunes soon-ish!

Well, after 3 gigs in 5 days we've finally hit a minor hiatus before our next gig (Thursday in Bath). We've had a great but tiring time - about a dozen sets of broken sets of drum sticks, blood all over my guitar twice, moving equipment in the pouring rain, meeting some lovely bands and gig goers!

We really enjoyed all 3 gigs - the hub had a great crowd, sound and atmosphere, the other two had less people but were more fun in terms of meeting some really nice bands. Special shout-outs to The Devilriders (lovely bunch of guys), Matt Long and The Quails, Charlie and the lads from Leon Fazy who we met and would love to play with sometime!

We did our first gig yesterday - click on the gallery section to see some photos! We had a great time, there was a good crowd and everything went really well. We can't wait to get out and play again, which is handy because we've got a gig at the Zephyr Bar in Exeter tomorrow too!
